Crews will be using the time to lay duplicated track leading up to the Surf Coast highway rail bridge at Grovedale.

They will also take advantage of the closure to install critical water main and drainage at the Fyans Street roundabout in South Geelong.

The rail authority says there will be extra trains and buses before and after the Geelong/North Melbourne game, being played at Kardinia Park on Sunday afternoon.

Passengers are being advised to plan their journey and allow for extra time.
