Geelong commuters will be able to get on trains to and from Melbourne for free for two days next week.
V/Line has announced free travel on the network on Monday and Tuesday.
It follows this week’s Telstra outage, that causes services on the Geelong line to be cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Customers are being told they will not need to tap on or off when using the regional trains.
Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said there were also plans to take the compensation further.
“Money is being set aside, people will very soon be able to articulate the logistics around that,” she said.
“.. how Victorians can come forward to receive that compensation.”
More information on the free travel can be found here.
Meantime, there will be disruptions on the Geelong line on Friday night and Saturday.
Buses will be used from 10pm Friday between Melbourne and Geelong.
Commuters are being warned buses will replace trains between Melbourne and Wyndham Vale on Saturday, with trains running between Wyndham Vale and Waurn Ponds.
