The Cougars beat the Diamond Creek based North East Blaze 59 to 48 in the decider at the State Netball Centre in Melbourne.
Dominant Goal Shooter Ellen Doyle netted a massive 49 goals in the win, alongside Goal Attack Georgina Cuthbertson who chimed in with 10.
It’s an important win for the Cougars amid a shakeup in the VNL structure ahead of next season, while the Super Netball league – Australia’s highest level of competition – continues to consider expansion.
Netball Victoria announced earlier this year the league will expand to 12 licenses from 2024-28, including up to three outside of Melbourne.
The new-look VNL will also reduce from three to two divisions, Championship and an Under 23 comp.
