The free ride is over for Geelong bus and train users.
Free public transport has come to an end.
But we still won’t be paying for full fares – for the next six months, it’ll be half price.
The cost of a full daily fare will come down to $5.70 a day, with further discounts for concession card holders, while free transport will continue for children.
Today is also the first day locals can apply for a rebate on their car registration.
All drivers will be eligible to collect a 20 per cent refund on their 2025-26 registration, with the average person set to receive a rebate of $186.
Applications for the rebate will be able to be made in the Service Victoria app or on the website.
