SES crews busy during windy weather

SES Credit VICSES1The strong winds over the weekend have kept SES crews busy across the Geelong region.

More than 130 calls for help were made across the Barwon South West region, between Geelong and Portland, between midnight Friday and last night.

A severe weather warning for damaging winds was in place across the region on Saturday.

Aireys Inlet recorded wind gusts of 93km/h on Saturday morning and 87km/h on Saturday night.

Gusts of up to 67km/h were recorded at Avalon Airport.

Most of those were for downed trees, while others were made for building damage.

The Corio unit was kept busy, with 16 requests for assistance.

Bellarine volunteers were called to 14 calls for help, while those in Portland had 15 jobs.

The winds had eased on Sunday.

Geelong is in for a partly cloudy day with a top of 16 degrees forecast.
